Our annual Green's Peak camp and barbecue will held October 9th, the second Sunday of the month, after church at 3:00 pm.
No telling what the weather will be, but in past years it's been beautiful. Bring your own meat to barbecue and a dish to share. Directions will follow as we approach the date.
Yes, our church is growing, and your church leadership is prayerfully trying to stay ahead of the curve. We added the new parking lot, and we’ve added a new shed room for the youth. We will move the nursery space and the commons area for more seating. Please bear with us, and pray for us as we make these transitions. Also, pray that Nav. Co and Timber Mesa Fire will approve our addition plans for the end of our building.
Yes, we have a building fund. You can give to it by designating your gift to the "building fund." We've been paying for the current construction out of this fund. Heavy expenses are coming as we begin construction of the addition.
Your prayers, and your gifts are much appreciated. Thanks.
Be praying for the November elections that God will and presence will be known.
Good Thinking
What's on your mind? Are you dwelling on your problems and the crazy goings on in our culture right now, or, maybe you're living in a Pollyanna fantasy that all's well. Neither is appropriate for Christian thinking.
We're not promoting a "moderate" position here. That's more political than spiritual. No. What's needed is some sanctified common sense. We know that bad things happen to people on planet earth, but we also know that there's much good to rejoice in...like your heart beating consistently 80K+ times a day.
So it is that Paul writes to the Philippian Church: "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice" (Phil.4.4)! Why did he repeat it? The Philippian Church was a sore spot in a Roman Federal city. Although the church was loyal to Christ and healthy, it faced ridicule and scorn in its pagan culture.
That's the reason Paul could write, "Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men" (4.5a). What does it take to be "forbearing?" It takes the mind of Christ. No stinkin' thinking; no "Oh, woe is me...or us..." or whatever. We're being delivered and cared for daily in Christ. "The Lord is near" (4.5b).
We are to face each day with "the joy of the Lord" in our minds. We're to receive the wonderful promises of our God, remembering that, "If God is for us, who is against us" (Rom.8.31)? How does this happen? Well, it doesn't happen as long as we choose to dwell on the things of this life and become irritated.
Paul writes, "Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth" (Col.3.2). Yes, think on the things that are true, honorable, right, good, and peaceful (4.8). You can do it. We can do it because our God is greater than all the things that torment us. Amen.
