Church STAFF meeting @ the Church, 4:30 Tomorrow!
Starting August 8th—12th some of our church family will be going up to Big Lake for a campout. If you wish to join them, let Roger Brown know.
Day Visitor’s are Welcome.
The annual Tent Revival meeting will be held in Vernon at the JESUS sign on State Highway 60 this coming August 21 - 28. It is a cooperative effort of several local churches.
We've been asked how one becomes a member of NHCF. There's one basic requirement: that you've received Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
Jesus said, "...You must be born again" (John 3.7). The new birth is from above, and it is a spiritual recreation. "Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come" (2 Cor.5.17).
Being "born again" and being a regular attender at NHCF makes you a member of this body.
Who are you? We’re asked this question time and again. According to the Word of God and to those who believe in His Son, we can give an affirmation. “I am a child of God.” (John 1:12) When you are asked, where do you look for the answers? Do we look at ourselves as the world sees? Do we affirm who we are by what we do, like a carpenter? Nurse? Teacher? Doctor? Mechanic? Ok physically, but spiritually? Let's try to look in the Word, and maybe consider music as well… For example, one of the songs we sing, “Trading My Sorrows”. In this particular song the chorus is packed full of scriptures that I can lean on and affirm myself. “I am pressed but not crushed, persecuted not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed. I am blessed beyond the curse for His promise will endure that His joy’s going to be my strength. Though the sorrow may last for the night… His joy comes in the morning.” I am pressed but not crushed, persecuted not abandoned, struck down but not destroyed. (II Corinthians 4:8). Blessed beyond the curse…For His promise will endure (Numbers 23:19- 23) His joy is going to be my strength (Neh. 8:10) The sorrow may last for the night but His joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5).
In some places in the Word God sent out the worship team before the battles began, an example is in 1Chronicles 20:21 …” He appointed those who should sing… and who praise… went out before the army…”. I am affirming myself daily as the battles in life continue until Jesus comes again. We are blessed before the foundation of the world (Eph 1:1-14). Blessed because we have received the inheritance incorruptible and undefiled (1Peter 1:3-ff.) Shall I go on… (Ephesians 1:11-14)? We have received His inheritance for His purpose. What are the riches of the inheritance? What are the promises of God? Salvation! Saved from the works of the devil (1John3:8) HEAVEN!!! HOME with GOD!! With Jesus in paradise (Luke 23:43). So, the next time you’re asked “Who are you?” Maybe give and affirm your answer with scripture and/or from a song in your heart, or simply reply “I am a child of God”.
